A two-minute reset can be designed
A Singapore field study found that a short break in a green semi-outdoor atrium reduced stress and fatigue while improving perceived recovery.
The break duration tested in the Singapore field study, where greenery was linked to better recovery and lower fatigue.
The Story
A September study from Singapore looked at what happened when office workers took a two-minute break in a semi-outdoor atrium. Greenery, more than spaciousness alone, was associated with lower stress and fatigue and a stronger sense of recovery.
The finding is modest, which is exactly why it is useful. Creative wellness does not always require a dramatic retreat, a new productivity system or an elaborate ritual. Sometimes the environment simply needs to make stopping easier.
For Studio Wensday, build a small reset into the working day: step outside, look at something living, leave the screen and return without demanding an immediate breakthrough. Protecting attention is part of protecting the work.
