Text-to-vector is becoming a sketchbook, not a shortcut
CorelDRAW’s September update adds text-to-vector generation, reference-based vector creation, faster tracing and AI-assisted background removal.
The Story
CorelDRAW is pushing generative AI closer to the part of design that still benefits most from human judgement: early visual exploration. Text-to-vector can turn a loose thought into something tangible before the idea has fully formed.
The useful distinction is between generation and authorship. A prompt can offer shape language, but it cannot decide whether the result has the right rhythm, cultural tone or system potential. That remains the designer’s work.
For Studio Wensday, this is a good prompt to keep: use AI to widen the first 20 minutes of a project, then become stricter as the identity takes shape. The output should be raw material, not the finished point of view.
Studio Wensday Angle
Treat generative vector tools as rapid visual research: valuable at the beginning, increasingly limited without editing, taste and system thinking.
