Working prototypes can become design material

Figma has moved code layers into open beta, allowing teams to explore code-backed prototypes alongside editable design work.

The Story

The interesting part of code layers is not that designers can now “make apps.” It is that working behaviour becomes something a team can inspect, compare and discuss visually.

For creative direction, this shortens the distance between a moodboard and a believable experience. Motion, hierarchy, accessibility and interaction can be reviewed before the work becomes expensive.

For a multidisciplinary studio, that suggests a sharper offer: not just brand assets, but brand behaviour—how a visual system moves, responds and holds together in use.
