A cultural identity with room to move
The Poetry Foundation’s Pentagram-led refresh expands colour, typography and motion while preserving a strong connection to its history.
The strongest refreshes do not erase recognisable history; they give it more ways to behave.
The Story
The Poetry Foundation and Poetry magazine have launched a new identity with an expanded palette, new typographic system and four Pegasus poses. The system is designed to work across the magazine, digital platforms, installations, programmes and grants. The smart move is range. Rather than treating the logo as the whole identity, the redesign builds a family of marks, type treatments and editorial gestures that can flex between intimate reading and public cultural presence.
It is a useful reminder for Studio Wensday: a brand becomes memorable through repeated relationships, not repeated layouts. Give the identity a clear centre, then let the applications carry some of the personality.
