Motion is becoming part of the system
Figma’s new Motion features push animation closer to the component layer: reusable styles, editable text animation, audio export and Lottie output.
The Story
Figma’s September 30 Motion update makes animation feel less like a finishing flourish and more like a first-class part of a visual system. Custom styles, character-level text animation and Lottie export all point in the same direction: brands are expected to move coherently, not merely look consistent.
For Studio Wensday, the useful shift is operational. A good motion language can now be designed with the same care as a logo, type scale or colour palette—and handed over in formats that product, web and content teams can actually use.
The practical prompt: define three or four motion behaviours for your next identity—entrance, emphasis, transition and pause. Restraint will make the system feel more recognisable than a pile of effects. ([figma.com](https://www.figma.com/release-notes/?utm_source=openai))

Treat motion as a brand primitive, not a campaign extra.
