Fast prototypes make direction more important

Figma’s latest product essay argues that speed, direction, and differentiation are the real work after AI makes prototyping easier.

Generate several directions quickly
Compare them against purpose, audience, and brand point of view
Move between canvas, prompt, and code based on the task
Refine the chosen direction directly instead of endlessly regenerating

The Story

Figma’s new essay makes a useful distinction: AI can make a clickable prototype quickly, but it does not answer whether the direction is right, worth building, or recognisably yours. ([figma.com](https://www.figma.com/blog/what-it-takes-to-build-great-products-now/?utm_source=openai))

The strongest point is the emphasis on choosing the fastest medium for each kind of change. Direct visual editing, prompting, and code each have different strengths; forcing everything through one interface creates friction and weaker decisions.

For Studio Wensday, this is a good operating principle: use AI to widen the option space, then use taste to narrow it. The last mile is where the work becomes a point of view.

Use speed to explore more, not to decide less carefully.
