Multidisciplinarity is still a serious design advantage
London Design Festival coverage highlights practices that move across objects, materials, interiors, culture, and identity.
The strongest practices often have more than one medium, but one coherent point of view.
The Story
Wallpaper*’s festival coverage points to multidisciplinarity as a defining feature of London’s creative scene, from emerging talent to material-led work and cultural programming. The festival ran from 12–20 September, with coverage updated through 21 September.
One useful reminder for a multidisciplinary designer: coherence does not require staying inside a single format. A visual identity can extend into objects, spaces, editorial formats, motion, and digital experiences without becoming fragmented.
The connective tissue is usually not a logo. It is a way of choosing: a recurring attitude toward scale, texture, language, rhythm, or participation. That is the part worth articulating before a project expands into new media. ([wallpaper.com](https://www.wallpaper.com/design-interiors/live/london-design-festival-2026))
