A student campaign wins by designing for shared experience
University of North Texas students won a national social-impact marketing competition with a campaign combining influencers and in-person community events.
The strongest campaigns often connect media behaviour with real-world participation.
The Story
A University of North Texas student team won the 2026 Strategic Excellence Awards with a campaign for a high-school-equivalency initiative. Their proposal combined social-media influencers with in-person community events. It is a useful reminder that “digital campaign” does not have to mean “digital-only.” The audience insight is carried across formats, but the experience changes depending on whether someone is scrolling, asking questions or showing up in person.
For creative direction, the lesson is to design the audience journey before designing the asset list. A poster, short video, event and ambassador programme should feel like chapters of one idea—not four unrelated deliverables.
