The website is becoming a shared workspace

Webflow’s Source places code, visual development, marketing tools and AI agents in one governed environment.

01
Start with the live brand system, not a blank prompt.
02
Give agents bounded jobs, permissions and review points.
03
Keep the shipped code as the source of truth.

The Story

Webflow’s new Source is less interesting as an AI website generator than as a change in the team model: marketers, designers, developers and agents are being given different views onto the same web system. The product is currently in limited research preview. ([webflow.com](https://webflow.com/blog/introducing-source-by-webflow?utm_source=openai))

The useful design implication is governance. Agents can act with different levels of autonomy, while teams retain approval controls, permissions and a record of what changed. That is much closer to a real creative workflow than “type a prompt, receive a page.” ([webflow.com](https://webflow.com/blog/introducing-source-by-webflow?utm_source=openai))

For Studio Wensday, the provocation is clear: design systems should be authored for collaboration with both people and tools. Define the tokens, components, content rules and review rituals first; automation becomes safer—and far more distinctive—after that.

Studio Wensday Angle

Treat AI as a participant in the system, not the system itself.
