Generative branding works best as a system
A Berlin workshop is using variables, code, and AI to explore branding as a responsive visual language.
A generative identity is more compelling when the rules are designed as carefully as the outputs.
The Story
Stan Hema’s workshop for PAGE live explored generative design in branding through its in-house tool Brik Space, asking participants to build visual assets from variables, code, and AI.
The important shift is from generating a collection of images to designing the conditions that produce a coherent family of images. That is much closer to identity design than to one-off image prompting.
For Studio Wensday, the practical lesson is to begin with variables—scale, density, rhythm, contrast, motion, texture—and define how they may change without losing recognition. ([stanhema.com](https://stanhema.com/en/news/page-live-design-the-ai-age-workshop-stan-hema))
Studio Wensday Angle
Generative identity should be authored through rules, not outsourced to randomness.
