The interesting AI question is what happens between people
Figma’s 2026 research focus is collaboration, uneven adoption, and the changing shape of design work.
Figma’s current research examines how AI is changing collaboration, adoption patterns, and the reasons more people are turning to design.
The Story
Figma’s current report series is asking a more useful question than “will AI replace designers?”: how is AI changing the way designers, developers, marketers, and stakeholders work together?
That shift is important because most creative friction is relational. It lives in unclear ownership, missing context, weak critique, and decisions that disappear into chat. An AI tool can speed a handoff while still making the system around the handoff worse.
For Studio Wensday, this suggests designing collaboration as carefully as the final artefact. Shared references, decision logs, named principles, and visible critique can become part of the studio’s visual-systems practice—not admin around it.
