The interface is becoming part of the answer
OpenAI’s new Intelligent UI lets ChatGPT compose answers as combinations of text, visuals, forms, charts, and small interactive tools.
The Story
OpenAI has started rolling out Intelligent UI: a system that can generate interactive responses such as diagrams, calculators, comparison layouts, and lightweight tools rather than returning only prose. For Studio Wensday, the interesting shift is not “AI makes interfaces.” It is that the response itself can become a temporary interface, assembled around a person’s intent. That makes information architecture, visual hierarchy, and interaction writing part of the model’s output.
The design opportunity is to think in reusable behaviors, not just reusable screens. Define what a useful answer should help someone notice, compare, change, or decide—and then build visual systems that make those actions feel obvious.
Studio Wensday Angle
Treat conversational output as a new product surface: part editorial layout, part tool, part service design.
