As slides get easier, presence matters more

Canva’s survey of 4,000 professionals suggests AI can speed up slide creation, but persuasion still depends on human delivery, narrative and connection.

86%

of surveyed professionals said great presentations still come down to human connection.

The Story

Canva’s Presentation Paradox study surveyed 4,000 professionals across eight countries and found that 91% use AI monthly to build slides, while 74% still feel nervous presenting. The research is company-commissioned, so it is best read as directional rather than definitive—but the tension is useful. ([canva.com](https://www.canva.com/newsroom/news/ai-presentation-study/))

The survey reports that 71% trust AI to build slides but not to present or tell the story, and 86% say strong presentations still come down to human connection. As visual polish becomes easier to obtain, the differentiator moves toward framing, pacing, voice and the ability to read a room.

For Studio Wensday, this is a reminder that presentation design is not decoration around a script. Build decks that leave space for thought, make the argument visible and help the presenter sound like a person—not a beautifully formatted summary.

Studio Wensday Angle

Presentation design should support human presence, not hide the absence of it.
