The web now needs a second reading layer

Framer is automatically serving optimised page content as markdown for AI tools and agents.

Write for humans
Keep the visible page clear, distinctive and useful.
Expose structure
Use semantic content, metadata and well-organised page relationships.
Audit the machine view
Check how agents interpret the site, not only how browsers render it.

The Story

Framer has added automatic markdown delivery for optimised pages, giving AI agents a cleaner way to read site content. It is a quiet infrastructure change, but one with strategic consequences for discoverability.

The visual website is no longer the only interface. A brand now has to be legible both as an experience for people and as structured knowledge that machines can retrieve, summarise and recommend.

For a creative studio, this makes content architecture part of art direction. A beautiful site with vague headings and buried meaning may increasingly lose to a slightly less flashy site that explains itself clearly.

Designing for the web now means designing the page and its machine-readable interpretation.
