Measure the collaboration, not just the speed
Figma’s ongoing research looks beyond time saved to how AI changes collaboration, product development and the quality of design work.
A faster workflow is not automatically a better creative workflow.
The Story
Figma’s new research piece asks a more useful question than “does AI make designers faster?” It looks at the broader system: how teams collaborate, where decisions move, and how the work changes over time.
That framing is important for creative leaders. Speed is easy to celebrate, but quality, shared understanding and the ability to make better decisions are closer to the real value of a design tool. ([figma.com](https://www.figma.com/blog/measuring-the-impact-of-ai/?utm_source=openai))
A good Studio Wensday experiment would track all three: time to first direction, number of meaningful iterations and whether collaborators can explain why the final choice is right. Productivity is only one signal in a much larger creative system.
Studio Wensday Angle
Creative operations need richer success measures than output per hour.
